The town of Fafe is located the North-West from the city of Porto. The nearest international airport Sá Carneiro airport, in Porto, is about 35 km from Fafe. The town belongs to the province of Minho. The area of the town is 219, 1 sq.km divides into 39 parish councils. The residential density is one of Portugal’s highest: 244 inhab./sq. km. The town, classified as a medium-sized town, belongs to the class M2 in the European Union. The town is surrounded by the European widest oak forests and by the splendid mountain landscape with its wild horses. The beauty of nature is present everywhere, on marked nature trails and in the camping site nearby of the town on the banks of an artificial lake. The province of Minho is famous of its colourful folklore, music and dance, as well as its handicrafts. The textile and shoe industry, winegrowing and the beef cattle are also characteristics to the province. In cooperation with the municipality operates very active music and dance school on the basic level, integrated into official school system.
