Established 1984, Department of Historical and Artistic Heritage, Diocesis of Beja is in charge of the cultural religious heritage of the Beja region, located in the South of Portugal, between the Atlantic ocean and the spanish border.
Keeps over 200.000 inventoried works of art in churches, monasteries, convents and collegiates and a network of 8 museums. It’s a reference NGO for religious heritage. Organizes a festival on religious music, Festival Terras sem Sombra. As an independent activity as publisher of books, recordings and journals. Publishes a newspaper and as a program on arts and culture on Portuguese radio.
Organizes annualy the International Prize Terras sem Sombra for Music, Cultural Heritage and Biodiversity.

Projekt

Objectives of the project are:

– cooperation between cultural and creative organisations from different countries;
– networks helping the cultural and creative sector to operate competitively and transnationally;
– establishing platforms to promote emerging artists and stimulating European programming for cultural and artistic works.
