The Accenti Magazine Foundation, based in Montreal, Canada is searching for European partners for a project idea for the EU Culture Programme, Strand 1.3.5 [EU funding for projects with Canada].
In the past few months we have been brainstorming and developing a project idea that we believe is worthy and would have a great impact in Europe and beyond. Generally speaking, the project theme is to describe the “effects” of immigration on the emigrant, on the country of departure, and on the host country, through images and words. Individuals such as artists, photographers, poets, and writers would be invited to submit photos, poems, and short stories that capture the experience of immigration. This information would be compiled in a large format hard-bound colour book and presented in launches in Canada and Europe. The launches will include an audio-visual presentation (images, etc) and feature, when possible, some of the contributors.
We believe this project fits the three specific objectives described in the Programme, as it promotes the mobility of people working in the cultural sectors across Europe and also across Canada; and participants will have the opportunity to share, compare and discuss with others their personal experience of being an immigrant in today’s “globalized” world.
The information collected and presented through this project will have an immense value as it can help shape future immigration policy, bringing together European and non-European countries.
We are looking for possible European partners who might be interested in working with us on this project and might want to put the application through with us.
