Organizacija: Thessaloniki Olympic Museum

One of a kind in Greece, the Olympic Museum, narrates one of the greatest stories of mankind, that of the Olympic Games. Its origins may be traced back in 2001 when it was first established as a Sports Museum. Almost a decade later, the museum reinstated its identity by becoming the Olympic Museum of Greece and one of the eleven founding members of the Olympic Museums Network (OMN). Affiliated with the International Olympic Committee, which granted it the Olympic privilege and global partnerships, the Museum serves since 2008 as an agent of the Olympic spirit, ethos and heritage. Its primary goal was and still remains the presentation of sports and their promotion in a museum “alive” and “active”.
Walking through its galleries audiences discover the history of the Olympic Games, connect past with present and they are entertained by some of the most remarkable tales of sports charisma, perseverance and distinction. The Olympic Museum brings these amazing stories to life in a unique and thought-provoking manner. The collection spans the entire history of the Olympic Games (Ancient Olympic Games/Modern Olympic Games/Paralympics/The Science of Sports) and is complemented with cutting-edge digital applications encouraging interaction and fun.
Temporary exhibitions and educational innovation represent two major strands of the Olympic Museum. Each year through a curatorial program showcasing different aspects of sports and culture and an engaging educational scheme, targeting all audiences, the Olympic Museum outreaches both locally and nationally. Simulations of Sports Fields, found within the main exhibition areas, motivate youth participation, experimentation and discovery.
They are looking for partners from the field of cultural heritage.
