FoAM city creation starting from 05/2006 and FoAM city art mobile starting from 02/2007. ArtDuce is looking for international partners as co-organizers (with juridical status) that represent various media – photography, graphic and/or new media arts.
The goal of the project is to draw attention to social problems in the new EU Member states and Old Europe as well as its border states at the cultural and political aspect by making these problems easy to perceive by means of art. The question is – chaos or ideal order?
Every artist involved in this project is going to give an answer to it. In the first phase, the project will be organized as a game without words among artists with following conditions – everybody receives a fragment of the social medium artwork from another country and supplement it with his own part made by the idea that depict socially positive features that are worth showing and maintaining of the urban environment, people or problems that need to be solved in the particular artist native country. After that artist forward supplemented work to the next who are doing the same and so on. Finally project results in created FoAM city. Like the foam it is growing unpredictable in its artistic shape and form, from the elements and parts that ideally fits to each other.
In the second phase of the project – FoAM city art mobile – artists represent separate forms of the art from each country visit in each of the project member states and following the impression of their visit create unplanned works of art that depict the urban environment and people of the particular country from the artist’s point of view, or compares them with the positive features or contrariwise to the problems of the guest artist` s native country.
