The aim is to work together with at least five other museums in Europe.
Stavanger Museum wants to show how people and predators have existed together through the ages for better or worse, how predators have featured in people’s everyday life and culture, as well as how people have treated predators in an ecological context. Some focal points will be: mythology, fairy-tales, religion, politics, literature, art, children’s culture, tourism, the entertainment industry, business development and nature conservation.
The target group for the exhibition is children and young people, but it will also have a strong appeal to adults. The aim is to present information about predators and their place in our common culture, create curiosity and lay the foundations for a reflective relationship towards the challenges of today and the future. The exhibition will be topical, engaging and raise questions. It will be made in a modern style using modern exhibition technology.
Stavanger has been granted the role of a European Capital of Culture in 2008. The exhibition will be one of the Museum’s contributions to that year’s events.
Budget framework for the entire project is of circa 1,1 million euros.
