Olympic Movement of Third Age of Serbia is the official organizer of Olympiad of sport, health and culture for the third age that has annually took place in Sokobanja, Serbia since 2008. Olympiad gathers about 600 Golden Agers from all over Serbia, and so far has gathered several teams from Germany, Cyprus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, and Macedonia. From very beginning our wish was attract Golden Agers from all over the World in order to enable them to exchange their life experience in third age. That includes exchanging cultural heritage, exchanging their experience in using their leisure time, exchanging experience in field of health care, and enjoying very competitive sporting events. Hence we decided to apply for 2012 grant.
Our goal is to prepare Serbian Golden Agers to socialize with their peers from the EU as Serbia strives towards EU integration, as well as to acquaint EU Golden Agers with talents and potential collaboration with their Serbian peers. Connecting Golden Agers from the EU, Serbia and SEE, we strive towards more certainty and enriching life of our senior citizens. Whoever decides to become our partner will be able to develop strong connection with reliable organization that looks after Serbia’s Golden Agers by encouraging them to participate in various cultural, sporting, social, and environmental events. Olympic Movement of Third Age of Serbia also strives to develop communication between Golden Agers and youth in order to bypass the existing generational gap between them. One way to do that is through one of our projects for planned for next Olympiad, called CLICK AND PAINT ACROSS EUROPE by YOLD!
Therefore, we invite you to join us in creating a unique project that could gather Golden Agers and European youth in learning and creating conventional and modern art. Senior citizens paired up with youth should create two art pieces. Youngsters would take digital pictures of landscape, people, architecture, etc. One of those pictures would be selected, together with their Golden Ager peer, to be painted in chosen technique. Both of them would participate in each other’s creation process in order to learn more about modern/conventional art techniques. In order to spread cross cultural and cross generational dialog and understanding our idea is that coupled Youngsters and Golden Agers come from different countries as well to have both genders represented as equally as it is possible.
Final art pieces, created next year in Sokobanja, would be documented as large posters, one for each pair, and would be distributed to all countries that would have their participants at the Olympiad. Olympic Movement of Third Age of Serbia would organize exhibits in at least ten cities across Serbia, which would be encouraged to done in all other participating countries. In addition Golden Agers could continue their communication through internet, because they could attend IT courses organized at the Olympiad.
