Project: Design: The Evolution of an Archetype?

Our goal is to show that design has been a part of the human experience from the moment homo erectus became homo sapiens. For by pointing to the history, we achieve the breadth we want for design, and at the same time, we oppose the inane construction of a cult of the individual and the object, which was created mainly by twentieth century. This cult banalizes design as a fetish and ignores the potential that design continues to possess.

Museum of Architecture and Design and association PEKINPAH from Slovenia are looking for partners with experiences in design theory and research.
They want to apply for Culture programme funds – strand 1.2.1 .

Proposed work methods:
Open Source or ThinkCycle P2P (http://p2pfoundation.net/ThinkCycle): Both methods make it possible for us to have numerous collaborators (including unforeseen ones), with everyone contributing to the set goals from their own field of work.

Possible events:
• workshop
• talks
• panel discussion
• symposium
• exhibition
• congress (this is reserved for the coordinator)

Possible topics:
• archaeology – design – archetypes
• anthropology – design – archetypes
• philosophy – design – archetypes (C. G. Jung, Arhetipi, kolektivno nezavedno, sinhroniciteta [Archetypes, the collective unconscious, synchronicity], selected and translated by Boris Vezjak [Maribor: Katedra, 1995] – four essays by Carl Jung)
• cultural studies – design – archetypes
• archetypal pedagogy (a term coined by Clifford Mayes) and design
• art/literature – design – archetypes
• science/technology – design – archetypes
