The Centre of Higher Education in Theatre Studies (www.theatrestudies.gr) is a non-profit Arts & Research organization in Athens Greece. In the last 15 years the Centre has completed numerous EU projects as Coordinator and partner (more http://www.aeroplio.gr/europeanprojects.htm).
We are in the process of submitting a project in the context of Culture program, strand 1.2.1 Cooperation measures. Project start / end date: 2013-2015
The project has the title Theatre of the Time, aiming to create high quality cultural events and performances via a unique procedure. Based on the involvement of both young people and senior citizens, the procedure will collect and research historic material that will in the end transform in a unique kind of event. The project aims to achieve Intergenerational information. Make the seniors active and younger informed. So, the final aim will be theatre performances / events / presentations born through an important historic event of each partners’ country.
Furthermore, as the theme this year of the Culture program is “Active ageing”, all partners in the context of their research will focus on an important event in their history timeline of the 20th century and will obtain the information directly – if possible – from people or groups of people (unions etc) that actually lived through these historic events of their country. This means that they are living witnesses of events that are now important part of our European History and have personal or family stories to present that took place in parallel with these events.
All partners will cooperate with the above mentioned senior citizens or groups of people and record material via workshops that will enable active involvement of young people. The memory and experience of, for example one that lived and fought in World war II, someone that was part of the Holocaust, someone that lived with a dictatorship and witnessed its fall and many more.
This European material of our Cultural Heritage will constitute the basic element and act as a parallel witness, via cultural events such as happenings, exhibitions, lectures, workshops, editions (book, dvd, websites) and finally theatre performances.
These events will take place in the countries of the partners and furthermore, two festivals will be organized with all the performances.
The Centre looks forward in receiving the interest of theatre organizations or cultural centers from all European countries that would like to participate as a partner the project … the Theatre of the Time.
We welcome partners from all EU countries. There is a special interest regarding Montenegro, The Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain and Sweden.
