CACiS el forn de la calç is a contemporary art center located in the countryside with some old lime kilns that give the name to the place. It has an area of residence for artists, spaces for workshops, exhibition hall, scenic space … all integrated architecturally into the landscape and applying rigorous sustainability criteria.
Now is currently starting a project to study and production of pigments, dyes and auxiliaries, all using natural materials from surrounding places. Products for use in art activities, food, textiles …. recovering old formulas and crafts. And at same time defining processes to improve forest and some crops. It is a project where nature, chemistry, art, biology, geology, history are interrelated ….
We look for partners to assist in the search for materials in their countries to experiment with and to establish formulas for the production of pigments and dyes. We’ll have different specific pigments around Europe. Act locally, think globally.
