The European Union Prize for Literature is an award, which highlights the work of the best emerging European writers every year. It aims to honour the diversity and talent of European authors as well as facilitating cross-border circulation of European literature.
This year, the European Union Prize for Literature is celebrating its 10th anniversary, which takes place during the European Year for Cultural Heritage. On this occasion, a special contest has been launched: all the previous prize winners were invited to submit an original short work of fiction under the topic “A European Story”. In total 36 authors from 26 European countries have entered the contest, including two Slovenian authors, Gabriela Babnik and Jasmin B. Frelih. All the submitted stories can be found in original and translated versions and are accessible here.
The winner will be chosen by both a jury of professional literature experts and by public vote. Click here to support your favourite story before 21 October 2018 and get a chance to win the opportunity to attend the award ceremony in Vienna in November 2018.
