Organization

The Institute is the public institution with its main activity in the area of  protection, conservation, rehabilitation and presentation of cultural-historical and natural heritage.  We perform wide range of activities that include research, inventories, different kinds of projects (preservation, restoration, conservation, reconstruction, revitalization, interior design projects), legal protection proposals, spacial planning and promotional activities. In addition to this, the Institute performs activities in areas concerning libraries, archives and museums as well.

Project

As an institution that has more than 50 years of experience in heritage protection, they came to acknowledge that we are in the moment where we are facing lack of funds, means and personnel, even though the “heritage commercialization”  is growing. Existing model of heritage protection shows to be inadequate, without overall vision, focusing mainly on tangible heritage and generating low visibility.

Our aim is to develop a project that would deal with a concept of applied heritage,  especially with its aspect of social/public engagement. We are in the need of model that would set the path for heritage to play a role, not only in the area of heritage protection and economic development, but also as a tool that strengthens social development and brings positive change.
