Project: The Face of Europe

Project

The Face of Europe is an exhibition project, which will be organised all around Europe for a reason to establish and improve the cultural relationship between the European countries, and to give opportunity young artist to prevail.
Their aim is also to understand and discover more of each other heritage, arts, culture, people and in the background the individuals itself.

METHODOLOGY AND STRUCTURE

Each country’s representatives Institution (Gallery or Museum), which becomes part of the project need to organise their own portrait exhibition. It will include the following steps:

1 STEP: CALL FOR A TENDER – PORTRAIT EXHIBITION – ‘FACE OF EUROPE’

The representatives Institution will call for a tender in its own country, which will be open only to the citizens of the relevant country.
Topic of the tender – portraitexhibition:
The artist can apply for the tender with a painting. It is need to be a portrait, which showcase a person who is bringing or brought value to the relevant country. A person who is doing or did something interesting or significant in science, culture, economy, fine arts or in any other field of the human life, so the relevant country of the citizens can be proud of him or her.
No clause for age, any artist can apply, citizenship of the relevant country is necessary. Relevant qualification is advantageous but not necessary.

2 STEP: INSTITUTION ASSESS AND SELECT THE ARTWORK FOR THE EXHIBITION ON THE FOLLOWING ASPECT

– The selected portrait need to represent a moral value, be thoughtful and it have to has a creative visual.
– Be not only a simple portrait, but using an interesting vision which grab the attention and motivate the viewer to think, investigate and discover more about the showcased person and the culture, where the person comes from. To achieve this affect the artist can use for example an interesting perspective, background or physiognomy.
– The person, chosen by the artist can be both, contemporary who still active or a person who lived in the past.
– The artwork can showcase a full figure, half portrait or only the face.
– The artwork can’t be pejorative, inciting or can’t have an extreme political tone.
– No clause for technique. The size can’t be bigger than 3m x 3m.

3 STEP: EXHIBITION OPENING WITH GALA

– Organise the exhibition and the opening with the announcement of the best ten award winner artworks. Nine artwork need to be selected by the jury and one by the public.
– Estimate time-frame while the exhibition will be open is one month.

4 STEP: PORTRAIT MISSION – MOVING EXHIBITION

All country’s awarded artwork will be gather in to one collection (in that way each country will represent themselves with the ten awarded artworks), so the colorful collection can be showcase and exhibit all around Europe, especially in those country who were involved in the project.
The collection will stay one month in each country’s representatives Institution (Gallery or Museum), then will move to another European country.
